1.) When it comes to links, think quantity over quality.

Offering up a bunch of useless or misleading links will only get you a bad reputation and will result in no repeat visitors and a very high bounce rate. Additionally, the search engine crawlers will think your site is a link farm, something that definitely won’t help.

2.) Use a service to submit your site to search engines and directories.

Stop! It sounds super easy and quite nice to have someone take care of this for you, but it’s really just a scam. There aren’t that may search engines around that aren’t actually controlled by one of the big guys like Google, Bing or Yahoo. As long as your page is public, you are already “submitted” to search engines as today you don’t find them, their spiders find you.
