Free Blog Marketing Tip #2: How To Write A Great Blog Entry

When you create a blog post, you need to remember: quality over quantity. You want to write a great blog post that will catch your readers’ attention, provide visitors with value and appeal to the search engines. But how the heck do you do that?!

This free blog marketing tip should help. The following are just some elements that you should infuse your post with to help you to build a great blog entry time and time again. If you make sure you follow this technique as you craft your blog posts, you will build better buzz worthy and share worthy content that will help to drive traffic to your site.

Pick topics that matter.

This doesn’t mean that your post has to be about something profound, it just needs to be worth reading about. This means your post should be helpful, informative, creative, entertaining or something else that will in some way be valuable to those who visit your site.

You know that regular posting is important to SEO and driving traffic to your site, but don’t just post for the sake of putting something up. If you get stuck, set your sites on influential blogs in your niche to see what they are writing about, and maybe inspiration will strike.

Write a catchy title or headline.

Visitors often decide whether or not they want to even visit your blog based on headlines and titles! If you want to know how to write ones that compel visitors to click through, our last post should do the trick.

Write a solid first sentence.

Once a visitor clicks through to your post, that first sentence will help to determine whether or not he or she will hang around to read more. This means you want your first line to be interesting, entertaining or otherwise attention grabbing so that visitors will be compelled to stick around to read your first post.

This first sentence also needs to be well written. If a visitor sees spelling and grammar errors in the first sentence, he or she may assume that the rest of the post will be similarly riddled with errors and just too annoying to read. You want to create error free posts, but the beginning definitely needs to be flawless.

Keep it simple.

Unless your blog is about your poetry, don’t get poetic. Get to the point.

Believe it or not, your blog readers don’t really want to read that much! You should keep posts as short and sweet as possible. Break longer posts up into sections or lists that your visitors can easily scan, allowing them to pick and choose which sections they want to read.

Use an image.

People like to look at pictures, and the pictures or art you post will have an even greater impact if it is related to the content in your post. These  images can help the reader to understand and even internalize what you are blogging about!

Images also help to make the post look even more attractive when your visitors share your writings via social sites like Facebook, FYI!
